The rapid escalation of COVID-19 worldwide earlier this year, raised a lot of questions and created the necessity for urgent measures on everyone’s agenda. Sopharma Trading, fully aware of its significant social function in this times, has opened its new distribution center in Pukovac, Nis region, in February and immediately started intensive work for meeting the needs of hospitals and pharmacies in Serbia.
The distribution center will serve company’s clients in the region of South-Eastern Serbia and later on Eastern, Western and Southern parts of the country.
The investment in Pukovac is a logical next step in the development of Sopharma Trading as a strategic investor in Eastern Europe and in the Balkans. The total amount of the project is EUR 6.8 million and will initially lead to the opening of 54 new jobs as their number will continue to increase in the upcoming months. The new center has an area of 4328 m2 and will serve Sopharma Trading’s entire portfolio of 20,000 products. The logistic base will provide an optimal storage microclimate with a high-end Siemens building management system and is fully compliant with the Good Distribution Practice standards.
One of the key benefits for Sopharma Trading’s customers in the region will be the significantly reduced time of order processing.
“When we entered Serbian market in 2015, we declared our ambition to drive the evolution of the healthcare sector in the country, as we have been doing it in Bulgaria for 13 years now! This is only the beginning of our investment program that will bring innovation and world best practices to the sector. I am proud with my colleagues in Serbia for responding quickly and timely to this emergency situation and for helping in managing the pandemic situation in the country”, said Dimitar Dimitrov, CEO of Sopharma Trading Group.
